Hi, I tio have suffered migraines for years and have been taking amitriptyline for years with moderate effectiveness. Honestly, I feel that it is my duty to give out the information that I have. I only started losing a little weight at 75 mg. I just starting Topamax for my tension headaches. He cut those 2 out and stayed on topamax and lost over 90 lbs in 6-7 mos. Before I was on topiramate I was on carbamezaphine and I was a lot larger than I am today. Her migraines came back so a few months later she tried it again and said the 2nd time around she had NO weight loss from it. When I looked up on the comp. Intentional weight loss is commonly referred to as slimming. My doctor just put me on Topamax a week ago. Finally got insurance. I gained 45 pounds while living here and barely leaving the house. I have a history of binge eating, (I know how to eat healthy and do at times, will lose some but I have a weakness for sugar and salt so I always manage to find what I have lost. Very little dieting was involved other than the exclusion of soda and I started walking twice a week (albeit sporadically, to be honest about it.
